World Theater Day at AUT- March 23

a_u_t____-3-12It was pure bliss to watch 19 scenes taken from renowned theater plays like Othello, Caligula, Antigone and others by authors like Fletcher, camus, Shakespeare, Ziad Rahbani, Giraudoux and others to celebrate World Theater Day with the Amshit Theater Workshop, led by Dr Elie Lahoud, faculty at AUT and dean of the Theater department at the Lebanese University.

Power Breakfast Series 2012 Resumes

a_u_t____-2-06The series of power breakfast for 2012 resumes this year with young entrepreneur and MIT graduate Hala Fadel. 25 students from Halat and Tripoli campuses that were selected for their GPA levels higher than 3.4 had the opportunity to discuss entrepreneurship and social involvement with the guest who is behind the MIT Business Plan competition, the Maurice Fadel Prize and the Tripoli Car Free initiative. Ms Fadel spoke of her first steps into entrepreneurship and her MIT years, then  presented some of her projects and had a discussion with AUT students around social responsibility, start-ups, the need to keep a positive outlook on life, useful living habits and other topics that were inspirational. She also gave details about the 2 competitions she is in charge of on Lebanon and the Arab world levels.

Contacts with Partner Universities and New Ones

ESC_visit_012Reinforcing ties with partner university Empire State College of State University of New York was one of the goals of a trip taken by VP for External Relations Marcel Hinain. The visit to ESC in Saratoga Springs on March 13 allowed Hinain to discuss the reinstatement of  scholarships to students enrolled in the joint program through contacts with Lebanese American donors. Hinain also discussed with ESC Provost Meg Benke the possibility of organizing a short summer term at Saratoga Springs in 2013 for students from Lebanon.

A Week dedicated for Seminars and Workshops at AUT

American University of Technology held a special workshop that covered activities over three days; Thursday, March 8th to Saturday, March 10th. The program included a seminar for high school principals and workshops for high school teachers, as part of AUT’s annual Community Outreach Program, and for AUT staff and faculty as AUT’s annual Faculty Development Program.
