AUT Officially Part of YEP MED Initiative in Lebanon

The MOU signed by the AUT President Mrs Ghada Hinain and the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Beirut and Mount Lebanon former minister Mohammed Shoukair officially makes AUT associated to the initiative by the European Union- Youth Employment in Ports Around the Mediterranean- YEP MED. This initiative is intended to prepare young people to work in several ports. Training at many levels is provided by parties associated to this program including the Customs directorate, the Beirut Port Authority, the syndicate of shipping companies and the syndicate of forwarders. AUT will provide training in transport management and in logistics over 3 years for several cohorts of trainees who wish to be employed in port operations and management.
In her word AUT President insisted on the need for universities to be given feedback on emerging fields of work and on capacity building by both the private and the public sectors in order to prepare graduates for the various jobs offered in the local economy as well as in the regional economy. She praised the YEP MED initiative and the CCIB for this program and pledged full support tapping on AUT’s local and international faculty.
The signature ceremony took place on April 26 at the CCIB and included the Beirut Port Authority, the syndicate of shipping companies and the syndicate of forwarders as well as the Beirut Container Terminal Consortium- BCTC.”
