IATA To Start Collaboration With AUT

AUT hosted two senior staff members from the International Air Transport Association "IATA" on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 to inform students of the learning options provided by IATA and to discuss collaboration between AUT and IATA.

Mr. Mohammad Apesh, Aviation Solution Manager at Levant and Near East Area, met with Transport Management and with Hospitality Management students and introduced the role of IATA in organizing and supervising the air transport sector and emphasized the role of IATA in formulating industry policies for critical aviation issues. Mr. Apesh also discussed the importance of the sector to the world economy and how it contributes to the global GDP.

Mr. Murad Al Khatib, IATA's Area Manager at Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan addressed the AUT students on topics related to the nature of this sector in our region and to various obstacles and threats to the aviation and air transport industry.

The second part of the presentation introduced the different certificates programs proposed by IATAS to the hospitality and transport management students. The added value of each certificate was explained in relation to the future careers and the job market requirements and needs. The outline and learning outcomes of each certificate program were discussed at length as students had many relevant questions regarding career opportunities.

This presentation by Apesh and Al Khatib is the first step towards establishing collaboration between AUT and one of the most recognized and respected international bodies in the travel and tourism industry.
