The Internet of Things at AUT

AUT hosts a conference on the theme of Internet of Thngs,(IoT), a computing concept that describes a future where everyday physical objects will be connected to the Internet and be able to identify themselves to other devices. The term is closely identified with RFID as the method of communication, although it also may include other sensor technologies, wireless technologies or QR codes.

The IoT is significant because an object that can represent itself digitally becomes something greater than the object by itself. No longer does the object relate just to you, but is now connected to surrounding objects and database data. When many objects act in unison, they are known as having "ambient intelligence."

The main speaker is Mr. Marc Khayat, Technical Manager at Cisco T-MENA,nd since AUT students all passed the Cisco exams for IT Essentials and for CCNA with flying colors, he will deliver their certificates at the end of the symposium.
Another speaker is Mr. Elie Raffoul senior security engineer at BMB. Raffoul will also speak of the new job openings and careers offered to graduates in Computer Science in the IoT field.

High school students interested in knowing more about Internet of Things are welcome to attend. The conference is held on Friday, March 4 at 6 pm- AUT- Issam Fares Auditorium
