Over 150 people attended the performance of composer/musician Elkin Robinson on May 30 at AUT Halat and savoured creole songs and rhythm.
In an introductory address, Colombian ambassador Edwin Ostos Alfonso spoke of the ethnic diversity of Colombia, stressing that he wanted to show the Caribbean culture of Colombia with Robinson’s performance. Alfonso thanked AUT for its collaboration on this event and on past initiatives like the diabetes awareness campaign and promised the audience more cultural events to be offered in Lebanon and to the Jbeil community.
AUT president Ghada Hinain thanked the Ambassador for this art event, underlining the importance of music as a vehicle that allows the discovery of other cultures and that elevates people’s spirits.
It was then the turn of Elkin Robinson who performed his best songs on the guitar and got the audience to dance on the wonderful Caribbean rhythms.
A cocktail reception followed
